Frequently Asked Questions about Vehicle Wrap, Graphic & Signs, Part I

Q: What is a vehicle Wrap?
A: A vehicle wrap is a  high-performance 3M cast vinyl film. We uses a wide variety of industrial digital printers to create your image on the vinyl. The image is protected with a UV clear coat or over laminate to resist road grime and sun fade. The finished graphics are then applied by professional installers who stretch it, heat it, and cut it to make an exact fit to your vehicle.

The application is so precise , it is often mistaken for a custom paint job.  A vehicle wrap could be used as a signage for advertising or used to improve the appearance of the vehicle

Q. What’s involved in a vehicle wrap application?
A. Vehicle wraps application is comprised of three phases. The first is the design phase which includes getting accurate measurements for the vehicle and actual design of the graphics to be applied. The second is the production phase where the graphic is printed and then laminated to protect the vinyl from abrasions and UV rays that can cause graphics to fade over time. The third phase is installation where the vinyl is actually applied to your vehicle.

Q: How effective is a VEHICLE WRAP?
A: Studies conducted have shown that a vehicle wrap can garner up to 8.3 million views per year in a city of 50,000. In a medium-sized city like Cincinati, a car wrap can make 1,000-2,500 impressions per hour on a busy boulevard. In large metropolitan cities like Chicago, impressions can be as high as 5,000 per hour.

Q. How can I justify the cost of a vehicle wrap?
A. If you are using your vehicle wrap as signage, there is no more cost-effective advertising method available.  It has been proven that the cost per impression of vehicles wraps is less than other forms of advertising such as billboards, television, radio, and yellow pages. Since a car wrap lasts between 3-5 years and will be seen by millions over that period of time.

If you are using your vehicle wrap to improve the appearance of your vehicle, digitally printed vehicle wraps simply cannot be duplicated by more traditional methods like paint or airbrushing.

Q: Does it matter what color my car is?
A: No, a car wrap is not translucent; you cannot see through it.

Q: Why should I invest in a vehicle wrap as opposed to painted or vinyl lettering?
A: Car wraps are less expensive as compared to painting. Applying paint decreases your car’s value. The same applies for vinyl lettering which can cause ‘fading’ or ‘shadowing’ to the original paint. In addition, a car wrap looks so much more stunning and appealing.

Q: What if I plan to change my company logo or phone number in the future?
A: We can change that. We can print logos, phone numbers, websites etc. as overlays on the car wrap, so that they may be removed and replaced if you change information.

Q: What kind of graphics work best?
A: Simple, striking designs are best. Like any advertising, you should reinforce your brand. Make your logo and call to action (phone number) and website address stand out. Our graphic designers are available to design a wrap that meets your requirements and ensures your message will be visibly appealing with high impact.

Q: How is a wrap designed?
A:  Our in-house staff of designers specialize in vehicle wrap design.  They work with the client throughout the process to ensure that the message in the wrap is conveyed accurately and appropriately. Final proofs are always reviewed prior to sending the job to print.

Q: How is a wrap printed?
A:  Our onsite printing department and staff ensures the accurate transfer of the images. We have large format printers that are fitted with state of the art ink systems insuring the best color schemes and resolution available in the industry.  We have carefully chosen the media we print on, which has been time tested for use in vehicle wraps.

Q: How do you install a vehicle wrap?
A:  Our installers are put through a rigorous apprentice program before they are given the title of expert installer.  Once they have reached this level, they are capable of handling the most intricate design wrap installations.  The vinyl material is accurately laid out and applied to the vehicle. The actual process is extremely precise, requires a lot of experience.

Q: Are car wraps applied to windows?
A:  Yes, but only rear side and rear windows.  Window wraps are printed on a special perforated vinyl that allows the driver to see through the rear and side rear windows.
