Psychologists call it “Thin-Slicing.” The human brain forms a solid first impression within just 7 seconds of entering a new space. In a business context, your reception wall is the focal point of that assessment.
High-quality materials like brushed metal or polished glass subconsciously signal financial stability and permanence. A flimsy or peeling sign suggests a “here today, gone tomorrow” operation.
In an open-plan office, your front desk wall sign acts as the visual anchor. It tells the visitor exactly where to look and where to go, reducing entry anxiety and making them feel instantly taken care of.
If your website is sleek and modern but your lobby sign is dated, you create a “Brand Disconnect.” We ensure your physical space matches the promise your digital marketing made.

We fabricate a wide range of custom reception signage, tailored to your office’s lighting, wall texture, and brand voice.
Also known as dimensional wall lettering, this is the gold standard for corporate branding. We cut individual letters from metal, acrylic, or foam and mount them directly to the wall. The depth creates natural shadows that change throughout the day, adding life and dimension to your brand.
Perfect for difficult wall surfaces (like stone or brick) where mounting individual letters is risky. We mount your acrylic office logo wall onto a clear or frosted panel, which is then installed using architectural standoffs. This creates a “floating” effect that looks incredibly premium.
For law firms, financial advisors, and executive suites in Naperville, nothing beats the authority of metal. We use solid aluminum, stainless steel, or metal laminates to create a brushed metal reception logo that exudes strength and tradition.
If you want to dominate the visual space, add light. LED backlit reception signs (often called “halo-lit”) project light onto the wall behind the letters. This creates a soft, glowing aura that implies sophistication and high-tech innovation—perfect for Chicago tech hubs.
For a subtle, elegant look, we apply etched vinyl graphics to glass doors or partitions. This provides privacy for the receptionist while maintaining an open, airy feel common in modern medical and dental offices.
Material | Best For | Vibe / Psychology | Durability |
Solid Metal | Law, Finance, Gov | Authority, Stability, “Forever” | High (Lifetime) |
Acrylic | Tech, Creative, Medical | Clean, Modern, Transparency | High |
Metal Laminate | Startups, Small Biz | Premium look on a budget | Medium |
Backlit LED | Nightlife, Tech, Retail | High-Energy, Innovative, Bold | High (50k hours) |
Wood / Live Edge | Wellness, Eco-Brands | Warmth, Organic, Grounded | Medium-High |
A common mistake is going too small. A “polite” sign gets lost on a large wall.
Lighting isn’t just about visibility; it’s about mood.
A successful reception signage project requires planning, precision, and execution.
We assess wall materials, lighting conditions, viewing distance, and electrical access at your Chicago or Naperville location.
You receive scaled renderings showing exact placement, depth, and lighting impact.
Using advanced routing and laser technology, we produce high-precision dimensional lettering and custom panels in-house.
Our installation team ensures level alignment, concealed wiring (for illuminated signs), and clean finish work.
Posted on Wendy Johnson Highly recommend! We needed banners and fatheads for a Naperville North basketball senior night. We needed them done quickly. I emailed on a Sunday night and got a response fast. From beginning to end, the experience and customer service was great. They responded quickly to emails and have an easy way to “drop” pictures into their site through a link they provide. They provided proofs for review. Pricing is fair. The banners and fatheads turned out great! Definitely recommend!Posted on Bob Pavelchik Outstanding service and product! I needed a banner for a retirement event, had it in two business days, professionally designed and produced. Thanks to Atul and the whole production team for a job well done! Another FANTASTIC banner ! Fast service again!!Posted on Norelle Simon Let me start by saying we had absolutely nobody to do out churches banner for months, mainly because we didn't have a vector file. Everyone who said they could do it, didn't do it, they tried, but were unsuccessful. All we sent was a photo, explained what we needed done, and they made it happen. We am absolutely 💯 percent beyond impressed with how our banner turned out. We will definitely use them from now on for all our printing needs and you should too. Remember if there is a will, there is a way.Posted on Komal Rajput Excellent service & great quality! We always have great experience working with Captivating Signs on all our printing projects.Posted on Pedro Toledano I stopped by at Captivating signs looking for help with our office sign for our roofing company. I dealt with Ken from the very beginning and he was very helpful in explaining all the different material options for my sign. With his help we chose the material and placed the order. A few days later the sign was ready for pick up and we could not be happier with the results. We love our sign and would recommend Captivating Signs to anyone looking for a sign place that provides professional and friendly service. Thanks Ken for the great service!Posted on Monika Blacha Captivating Signs created a very professional looking design. The process was easy and the installation was seemless.Posted on Janet Kaiser We had our sign for behind the desk at our dental office done by Captivating Signs and we are very happy. They worked with me the whole way to make sure I was getting what I had pictured in my head. When they came to install, they were so very nice and took care not to get dust and such in any of our office equipment. Once they were done, they wiped everything down so there was no dust left behind. A great place to get your signs made and installed.Posted on JJ Highly Recommended. Underpromised and overdelivered! After a different contractor botched our sign delivery timeline, Atul and the captivating signs team were able to deliver and install our sign in less than 8 weeks. Fixed our outdoor sign due to wind damage within a day.
For signs mounted directly to the front of a desk, we recommend acrylic or metal laminates. They are lightweight enough to adhere without drilling heavy holes into your furniture, yet durable enough to withstand scuffs from knees or bags.
A good rule of thumb is that the sign should span roughly half the width of the wall or the desk below it. The text height should be at least 1 inch for every 10 feet of viewing distance to be readable from the entrance.
If your lobby has low natural light or you want to make a bold “Tech/Modern” statement, yes. An illuminated reception logo acts as a secondary light source and immediately draws the eye, making it the focal point of the room.
Installation typically takes 2-4 hours. However, fabrication time varies. A standard acrylic sign can be ready in 1-2 weeks, while a complex LED backlit reception sign requiring electrical work may take 3-4 weeks to fabricate.
Very little. Non-illuminated signs just need occasional dusting. LED signs may need a power supply replacement every 5-7 years, but the LEDs themselves last for 50,000+ hours.
Generally, no. Signs inside a building do not require a permit. However, if your sign is very large, illuminated, and visible through a window from the public street (like in a ground-floor lobby), some municipalities may classify it as “Window Signage.” We check this for you during our survey.
Price depends on size and complexity. A simple vinyl wall graphic might be under $500. A dimensional acrylic logo usually ranges from $800 to $2,000. High-end fabricated metal or backlit signs typically start at around $2,500.
